While this is culturally considered normal in these areas, times are changing. Many young women are not only completing high school, but are continuing their studies at regional urban colleges. This little girl will live most of her first two to three years in this hammock-like backpack on her mother's back before joining the crowd of children that run around the central plaza when they are not in school.
