Positive points of Hostal Urusayhua

• Cheap
• Tile floored rooms
• Comfortable beds, without wooden ends
• Friendly owners
• Laundry sink and a drying area available
• Chair, desk and bedside table in every room
• Electrical sockets in some rooms
• Close to both central markets, both squares and the bus station

Negative points of Hostal Urusayhua

• Cold water showers only. This is not really a problem in tropical Quillabamba
• Only one shower and toilet. There is another of each, but they seem to be permanently locked
• No place to keep your gear in the room - no cupboard, shelves or hooks
• Shower and toilet cleaned infrequently

Local attractions and facilities

• Waterfall on the road downriver
• Plentiful net cafes on the main square
• Warm but not hot climate
• Lots of tropical fruit and vegetables

After going down river from Quillabamba we did return to this hostel, for its price it is good and the people are friendly. We shared a single room for S/.10. There really isn't much to Quillabamba, it is more a place to stop overnight on your way to Huancacalle or down to the Pongo de Mainique
